Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-02

The short version: PetChronicle stores your records locally. You choose when to export or share them. No Trueframe account is required. The app sends technical crash reports by default, with an off-switch in Settings → Diagnostics; purchase processing and other network features are described below.

What data PetChronicle collects

PetChronicle does not upload your record database to a Trueframe account. Exports, sharing, diagnostics and store transactions have the separate data flows described in this policy.

Crash diagnostics (default ON, opt out in Settings → Diagnostics → Crash diagnostics). If the app hits an error, it sends app/build, platform/OS, error kind, timestamp, error text and a code stack trace to Trueframe’s crash-reporting endpoint. The report schema has no device, installation or user identifier. Error text and stack traces can incidentally include context such as a file path; they are not an upload of your record database. The receiving service discards the request IP at ingestion. Turning the switch off stops this crash pipeline’s capture and upload.

Everything you enter (pet profiles, vaccine records, vet visits, photos, medications, weight history, notes, reminders, and any other record) is stored only on your device in a local SQLite database.

Purchases

PetChronicle Pro is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase (lifetime only on Windows). On iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android the purchase is made through the App Store or Google Play and processed by RevenueCat, our purchase-processing provider. RevenueCat receives the purchase and store transaction details, including subscription status such as renewals, cancellations, expiry and refunds, a customer identifier the app generates (not your name or email), and app and platform information so it can confirm and restore your purchase. It does not receive your pet records. On Windows the purchase is handled by the Microsoft Store. The app also keeps a local copy of your purchase state so Pro works offline, and checks it with the store from time to time while you use the app.

Diagnostics

Crash diagnostics are described above. The app also uses Sentry’s EU service for error reports and performance timings (app start and screen timings, technical logs and counters, diagnostic view hierarchy, and profiling on Apple platforms), with app/build and device/operating-system information. Screenshots and session replay are disabled. The same Settings → Diagnostics switch turns this off.

What data PetChronicle stores on your device

PetChronicle creates a local database in your device’s app storage area:

This database contains the pets, medical records, photos, and other information you enter. It is not encrypted at rest by default. The local OS sandboxes the app’s storage from other apps.

What permissions PetChronicle requests

PetChronicle does not request:

Sharing data

Exports and the system share sheet send the file you choose to the destination you choose. A manually selected cloud-backup destination receives that backup. Crash diagnostics use the endpoint described above. Purchases and restores communicate with the platform store; opening an app-store, privacy or support link contacts its destination. These requests can carry the normal connection metadata the receiving service uses to deliver the request.

No automatic backups

PetChronicle has no automatic backup: a backup is made only when you ask for one, in Settings → Export & Backup. A manual copy saved to iCloud is handled by Apple under your account. We have no access to it.

Backups and exports

You can also export your data manually at any time via Settings → Export & Backup:

These exports are written to a folder you choose. PetChronicle does not upload exports anywhere.

Use the app’s record-deletion controls to remove records. Separately saved backups remain until you delete them. Desktop application data may survive uninstall.

Children’s privacy

PetChronicle is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, and contains no advertising, social, or messaging features.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will ship with a new app version. The changelog will indicate the change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this file always reflects the current version.
