Terms of Use
Last updated: 28 October 2026
The short version: Plantout is a frost and planting guide for your own garden. It is provided as is, and its frost answers are estimates, not a guarantee. Your records are kept on your device and are yours. Plantout Pro is optional, as an annual or monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, billed by the app store you installed from.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Trueframe Digital (“we”, “us”) for the Plantout application and its content (“the app”). By downloading, installing or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. Your use is also subject to the rules of the store you obtained the app from: the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app is licensed, not sold.
3. Forecasts and guidance are estimates
Plantout gives frost answers, frost-date estimates, planting windows, heat notes and growing guidance for your garden. They are worked out from weather forecasts, past weather records, your garden’s place and height, and general growing information. They are estimates, not a guarantee and not an official weather warning. Frost can come on a night Plantout did not expect it, and a forecast can be late, wrong or unavailable, for example without a connection. Alerts depend on your device, its settings and the notification system, and may not arrive. Check the conditions in your garden yourself and decide what to sow, plant out or protect. You are responsible for your garden and your plants.
4. Your data is yours
The gardens, plantings, notes, photos and other records you keep in Plantout are stored on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for keeping your own backups, which the app lets you make for free. We have no account system and no copy of your records, so we cannot recover them for you. Deleting a record, or the app from your device, erases the data stored there.
5. Plantout Pro & purchases
Plantout is free to download, and its core frost answers and alerts are free. Some features are part of Plantout Pro, an optional purchase, as described in the app before you buy. Plantout Pro comes as an annual or monthly subscription, or as a lifetime one-time purchase.
- Every purchase is made and billed through the app store you installed from (Apple or Google). We never see or store your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each annual or monthly period, and you are charged for the next period, until you cancel. To avoid the next charge, cancel before the current period ends (on Apple, at least 24 hours before). You cancel in your Apple or Google account settings, not in the app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Free trial: where the store offers it to you, the annual subscription starts with a 14-day free trial. The store decides who can get a trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends (on Apple, at least 24 hours before), the annual subscription begins and you are charged.
- When a subscription ends, Pro features stop at the end of the period you paid for.
- Lifetime is a single payment for Plantout Pro, for as long as Plantout is sold: there is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.
- An Apple purchase can be restored on any iPhone or iPad signed in to the same Apple Account, and a Google Play purchase on any device signed in to the same Google account. Purchases do not carry over between app stores.
- Prices are shown in the app before you buy. They may vary by region and may change over time. A price change does not affect a lifetime purchase you have already made; for a subscription, your store tells you about a change as its own rules require.
- If a purchase is refunded, or a subscription ends, Pro features stop. Your records are kept on your device, and backup, restore and export stay free.
- Refunds are handled by the app store under its own policies, not by us.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to copy (except as the app normally allows), modify, reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the app except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law; not to rent, lease, resell or redistribute it; and not to use it for any unlawful purpose.
7. Intellectual property
The app, its design, crop pictures and text, and the “Plantout” and “Trueframe Digital” names and marks are owned by Trueframe Digital and protected by law. Weather forecasts, map pictures and terrain data come from their own providers under their own terms. These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you. The content you enter remains yours.
8. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any forecast, alert or date it shows is accurate, or that an alert will arrive.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trueframe Digital will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for any loss of data, or for any loss of plants or crops, arising out of or relating to your use of or reliance on the app. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Apple App Store
If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, the following also applies: these Terms are between you and Trueframe Digital only, and not with Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. Apple is not responsible for the app or any claims relating to it, including product-liability, legal or regulatory, or intellectual-property claims, or any failure to meet a legal requirement. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
11. Changes
We may update the app and these Terms from time to time. When we change these Terms we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Contact
These Terms are provided by Trueframe Digital, Melbourne, Australia. Any questions about these Terms, or any questions, complaints or claims about the app, can be directed to [email protected].
