Terms of Use
Last updated: 28 July 2026
The short version: Pucksmith is a notebook for your own brewing. Your records are yours, Pro is bought once rather than rented, and the numbers the app suggests are a starting point — not instructions for operating your equipment.
1. Agreement to these terms
By downloading or using Pucksmith (“the app”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app. The app is published by Trueframe Digital.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Pucksmith on devices you own or control, in line with the rules of the store you obtained it from. You may not resell, redistribute, rent out, decompile or reverse-engineer the app except where the law expressly allows it.
3. Starting points are not instructions
Pucksmith ships brewing reference figures — ratios, doses, temperatures and times — and suggests numbers based on your own past shots. These are a starting point for your own experimentation, nothing more. They are not operating instructions for your grinder, espresso machine, kettle or any other equipment.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety warnings for your own equipment. Brewing involves near-boiling water, hot metal, pressure and electricity. You are responsible for how you operate your own machine, and for judging whether any figure the app shows is sensible for it. Nothing in the app is food-safety, dietary, allergy or health advice.
4. Your data is yours
Everything you record stays on your device. We do not hold a copy and we cannot recover it for you. Backups and exports are free and always available in the app, and keeping a backup is your responsibility — a lost, wiped, broken or stolen device means the records on it are gone. See our Privacy Policy for the detail.
5. Pucksmith Pro & purchases
The app is free to use, with unlimited bags and unlimited history. Pucksmith Pro is an optional one-time purchase — not a subscription and not a recurring charge — that unlocks the extra features described on the purchase screen.
Purchases are processed by the App Store, Mac App Store, Google Play or the Microsoft Store, and are governed by that store's terms as well as these. Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its policy — we cannot issue them ourselves. Pro is tied to the store account that bought it, and restoring it on another device is done through that account. Prices may change for future purchasers; a purchase already made is not affected.
6. Third-party product data
Scanning a barcode looks the product up in the Open Food Facts open database. That data is contributed by the public, is provided under the Open Database Licence, and may be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong. Anything it fills in is a suggestion for you to check and correct — never treat it as authoritative, particularly for anything you intend to consume.
7. Acceptable use
Use the app lawfully. Do not use it to store unlawful content, and do not attempt to interfere with it, work around a paid feature, or disrupt any service it connects to.
8. Intellectual property
The app, its name, its design and its content are owned by Trueframe Digital and protected by copyright and other rights. Your own records remain yours.
Roaster, coffee and equipment names appearing in demonstration data are illustrative only. Pucksmith is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any roaster, coffee producer or equipment manufacturer, and all trade marks belong to their respective owners.
9. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law permits. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any figure it displays is accurate or suitable for your equipment.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Trueframe Digital is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, lost records, wasted coffee, or damage to equipment, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, you keep all statutory rights available to you — including, in Australia, the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.
11. Apple App Store
Where you obtained the app from Apple: these terms are between you and Trueframe Digital, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim you or a third party makes about the app, including product-liability, regulatory or intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any consumer protections that apply where you live.
13. Changes
We may update these terms as the app develops. Changes will appear on this page with a new “last updated” date, and continuing to use the app after that means you accept them.
