Is there a one-time purchase tide app with no subscription?
Last updated: 7 September 2026
Yes. ShoreWindow sells a $39.99 lifetime unlock, bought once, never renews, and its free tier does not expire either. Two other well-rated pay-once tide apps exist, AyeTides ($7.99 once) and Tide Graph Pro ($5.99 once), both single-location apps, at US prices from our August 2026 check.
How to tell if a tide app is really pay-once
- Open the In-App Purchases list on the store page. A pay-once app shows an item with no "per year" or "per month" after the price. Anything marked auto-renewing is a subscription.
- Look for the words lifetime or one-time. If the only paid items are called Premium or Plus with a yearly price, there is no pay-once path.
- Check whether the free tier is a trial. A trial clock means the app stops working after a week. A real free tier keeps working, just with less.
- Check for ads on the paid tier. Some tide apps charge and still show ads. Reviews usually say so.
- Check what the free tier withholds. If the next low tide is hidden until you pay, the free tier is a demo, not a tier.
How ShoreWindow does it
ShoreWindow Pro is $14.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, $2.99 a month, or $39.99 once for a lifetime unlock. Lifetime is a one-time unlock, not a subscription: it is bought once and never renews. The yearly and monthly plans renew until you cancel. All three unlock the same Pro. Prices are in US dollars and vary by country, and current pricing is shown on the App Store and Google Play. There is no launch discount.
The free tier is not a trial. It always tells you when your one saved shore next opens, with seven days of tables, curves and windows, light, moon and weather cards in full, and one alert. That answer is never withheld or teased. Pro adds unlimited saved shores, the 30-day window board paged forward a year, a Finder that searches every shore and every day for the tide, daylight and wave conditions you set, recurring alert rules, calendar export and widgets. There are no ads on any tier, and no ad SDKs in the app.
ShoreWindow runs on iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets. It is live on Google Play now, and the iPhone and iPad version is with the App Store for review. There is no Mac, Windows or Apple Watch version. On Apple, Universal Purchase and Family Sharing apply, so one purchase covers your iPhone and iPad.
No account, no login, no cloud sync. Your saved shores stay on your phone. Tide, sun and moon are computed on the device from published harmonic constants, so the tide side works with no signal. Sources are CC-BY licensed, including NOAA CO-OPS, Kartverket, LINZ, DMI, MET Norway and Queensland DTMR, covering 5,740+ stations across 108 countries. Every height shows its station, distance and datum.
Predictions are modelled and not for navigation. The app does not assess access or sea safety.

Related questions
- Is the ShoreWindow free tier a trial?
- No. It does not expire and has no trial clock. Only the yearly Pro plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
- Does the lifetime unlock ever renew or change price later?
- It never renews. It is $39.99 bought once. Current pricing is shown on the App Store and Google Play and varies by country.
- How is ShoreWindow different from AyeTides or Tide Graph Pro?
- Those are single-location tide apps. ShoreWindow searches every saved spot across a month for the tide, daylight and wave conditions you set, and shows the station and datum behind every height.
