How do I keep track of when my favorite beach is accessible at low tide?

Find the tide station nearest your beach, learn the water height at which the beach actually opens, and check the coming low waters against that number. Doing it by hand, with a printed tide table

  1. Find the nearest station. Pick the closest one, because low water can be tens of minutes later a few miles along the same coast.
  2. Learn your beach's number. Go once near low water and note the predicted height when the sand or rocks you want came clear. That is your rule. Note the table's datum too (MLLW, chart datum).
  3. Scan the next week. Mark every low water at or below your number. Spring tides, just after new and full moon, are lowest.
  4. Check daylight. Cross each mark with sunrise and sunset. A 5 am low water in December is in the dark.
  5. Work out the window, not the moment. The beach is open for a stretch either side of low water. Estimate when the water drops below your number and when it climbs back.
  6. Set a reminder the day before and recheck the forecast. Onshore wind and swell raise the real water line.

No account, no login, no cloud sync. Your saved shores stay on your phone. Tide, sun and moon are computed on the device from published harmonic constants, so it works with no signal. Sources are CC-BY licensed, including NOAA CO-OPS, Kartverket, LINZ, DMI, MET Norway and Queensland DTMR, across 5,740+ stations in 108 countries. Every height shows its station, distance and datum, for example 0.42 m MLLW.

ShoreWindow is a planning aid for the shore. Tide, sun and moon figures are modelled predictions: they are not for navigation, and the app does not assess access or sea safety. Always use your own judgement and local conditions.

Does the beach open at the same tide height every time?
Not exactly. Wind, swell and air pressure move the real water line off the prediction, so treat your number as a guide and look at the sea when you arrive.

Do I need an account to use ShoreWindow?
