What's an alternative to the Ricasso knife app without a subscription?
Last updated: 11 September 2026
Tangmark is a knife and EDC collection log with no subscription: free for your first 15 pieces, and Tangmark Pro is US$29.99 paid once. Ricasso's paid plans are yearly subscriptions.
One difference first. Ricasso has a marketplace, eBay comps and a listing builder for people who buy, sell and value knives. Tangmark has none of that. It does not build listings, does not pull eBay comps, does not run a marketplace and does not put an AI value on anything you own. If you want to price or sell a knife, Ricasso does that job and Tangmark does not try to.
How to leave a subscription knife app
- Decide what you actually use the app for: cataloging, or pricing and selling. Pick the replacement for that job.
- Export your data before you cancel. Look for a CSV export in settings. If there is none, screenshot each entry's specs and photos.
- Note your inventory numbers if the old app assigned them, so nothing gets renumbered by accident in the new app.
- Check what the new app charges and where it runs. A one-time price on every device you own is the point of switching off a subscription.
- Import your exported data with a CSV wizard rather than re-typing each piece.
- Cancel the subscription at the store, not inside the app. On iPhone that is Settings, your name, Subscriptions.
How Tangmark does it
Tangmark is free for your first 15 pieces of any kind, with 3 photos each. That is not a trial and does not expire. It includes backup, restore, CSV export, a CSV import wizard with a preview, the Collection Inventory Schedule PDF and your carry history. Tangmark Pro is US$29.99, paid once, and lifts both the piece cap and the photo cap, and adds document attachments, working reminders, two-steel side-by-side compare and a privacy pack. There is no subscription and there will not be one.
Every piece gets a permanent inventory number and full specs: maker, model, steel, grind, lock, blade length, weight, serial, and what you paid in the currency you paid it. Flashlights and multitools get their own field sets, and anything else is a record with fields you define. Around the record sits a carry log with saved loadouts and a home-screen widget, a maintenance log, a modifications ledger, and a free 115-steel reference with side-by-side compare.
Tangmark records what you paid. It does not value a piece for you, and it is not a marketplace or a price guide. There is no cloud sync: move the collection between devices with the backup file.
