Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
The short version: Verdling stores your plants, care history and photos on your device. No account is needed and there is no Trueframe server that stores your records. The app sends crash and performance diagnostics by default, with an off-switch in Settings → About → Diagnostics. Purchases go through the app store and RevenueCat. Each of these is described below.
What Verdling stores on your device
Everything you enter is kept in a local database and photo folder in the app’s own storage on your device: your plants, the spots they live in, care schedules, care history, reminders and quiet hours, light readings, propagation records, growth photos, notes and app settings. The app also keeps a local copy of your purchase state so Pro works offline.
This data is not encrypted by the app. Your device’s operating system keeps the app’s storage separate from other apps. Verdling does not upload your records to Trueframe Digital, and there is no cloud sync.
Diagnostics (on by default, with an off-switch)
To find and fix crashes and slow screens, Verdling sends diagnostic reports. This is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → About → Diagnostics → Crash diagnostics. Two services receive reports:
- Trueframe’s crash-reporting endpoint, a Cloudflare Worker operated by Trueframe Digital, receives crash reports: the app and its version, your platform and operating-system version, and the error type, message and stack trace. The report has no device, installation or user identifier, and your IP address is discarded when the report arrives.
- Sentry (EU region) receives error reports and performance data: app start and screen timings, session health (whether the app closed normally), technical logs and counters, a diagnostic view hierarchy when an error happens, and profiling on Apple devices, with the app version and device and operating-system information. Screenshots and session replay are turned off.
Neither report is an upload of your plants, care history or photos. An error message or stack trace can sometimes include technical context such as a file path. When the switch is off, neither service receives reports. Verdling has no analytics, advertising or behavioural-tracking services.
Purchases
Verdling Pro is a one-time purchase made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is processed by the store; Trueframe Digital never sees or stores your payment details. The purchase is confirmed and restored through RevenueCat, our purchase-processing provider. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and store transaction details, a customer identifier the app generates (not your name or email), and app and platform information. It does not receive your plants or any other record you keep. The store and RevenueCat handle this data under their own privacy policies.
Permissions Verdling asks for
- Camera (optional, only when you use it): to photograph a plant for its timeline, and on iPhone to measure light with the light meter. The light meter reads the camera’s exposure to estimate the light level. It does not save or send the camera image. On Android the light meter reads the phone’s light sensor instead.
- Photo library (optional): to add an existing photo to a plant’s timeline. Verdling only reads the photos you pick, and keeps its copy on your device.
- Notifications (optional): for the daily care reminder. Reminders are scheduled on your device. Verdling sends no notifications from a server.
Verdling does not ask for your location, contacts or any tracking permission. Saving a backup or export asks you to pick a destination at that moment.
Home-screen widget and Shortcuts
The home-screen widget (iPhone and Android) and the Shortcuts actions (iPhone) show what your plants need today and let you log a watering. To do this, the app writes a short summary on your device, such as plant names and what is due, that the widget and these actions can read. The summary stays on your device.
Backups and exports
Verdling never backs up on its own. A backup is made only when you ask for one, in Settings:
- Full backup: a file with your plants, care history and photos, saved to a folder you choose. On iPhone and iPad you can save it to your own iCloud Drive, which Apple stores under your Apple account.
- CSV and JSON export: a copy of your plant records you can open elsewhere. Always free.
- Plant-sitter care sheet (Pro): a PDF you save or share.
A backup or export goes only to the place you choose. Trueframe Digital never receives it. Verdling keeps no hidden copy of a backup on your device.
Other connections
Opening the store, a privacy or terms link, or the support email leaves Verdling and uses your browser or mail app. Any request to a store, RevenueCat or the diagnostics services carries the normal connection data that service needs to answer it.
Your control and deletion
You can delete any plant, photo or record in the app, or remove everything by deleting the app. Backups you saved, including iCloud Drive backups, stay where you saved them until you delete them.
Children
Verdling is not directed at children under 13. It does not create accounts, collect profile information, or include advertising, social or messaging features.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes are also described in the app’s update notes.
