How do I get my LighterPack gear list onto my phone so it works offline?

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Export your LighterPack list as a CSV file, then open that file in a spreadsheet app or import it into a gear list app that runs on your phone. LighterPack is a website with no phone app, so it needs a connection. The CSV is how you carry the list out of it.

Do this at home, with a signal. Once the file is on the phone, it works without one.

Two ways to do it

  1. A spreadsheet app. Save the CSV to your phone and open it in any spreadsheet app. You get your items, weights and categories as a table. It works offline, but it will not split base, worn and consumable weight unless you build the formulas, and editing 100 rows on a phone is awkward.
  2. A native gear list app that imports CSV. Import the file once and the list becomes records you can edit, check off and total on the phone. Look for a preview before the import is saved, and check what the app does with weights, worn flags and duplicates.

Whichever you choose, keep the original CSV. It is your copy of the list. Compare the total weight in the new place with the total you had in LighterPack. If they differ, check the worn and consumable items first.

How Skinweight does it

Skinweight is a native app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Import takes a CSV from a spreadsheet or a gear-list site. Columns are matched by header name, so a file does not need to be in a fixed order.

Before anything is saved, you see a preview. Duplicates and items with no weight are flagged, so you can fix them first. Image URLs in the file are not fetched.

Imported weights land as spec weights, never as measured ones. Your own measured weight can sit beside it, and your scale wins. Worn and consumable flags are not kept on the item. You choose worn or consumable on each pack line when you add the item to a pack. A table on the import screen shows what carries over for each column.

Import the same file again and Skinweight shows what changed, line by line. Nothing is saved until you accept each change.

The way back out works too. Skinweight exports CSV in a format compatible with LighterPack, and it reads that file back in. You can also share a PDF, a single-file HTML page, a share card image or a Markdown table. Each is a file, not a live link, so if you need a link for a forum thread you can rebuild a LighterPack list from the CSV.

The free plan shows 60 gear records and 1 pack. If your list is longer, the import still keeps every record, and Pro (US$19.99, paid once) shows everything.

There is no account, and the app works offline. Records stay on the device unless you back up or export. Purchases and diagnostics use the internet. Diagnostics are on by default and can be turned off in Settings under Diagnostics.

Related questions

Can I use LighterPack without a signal?
It is a website with no phone app, so plan on needing a connection. Export a CSV while you have one.
Will my list keep its worn and consumable flags on import?
Not on the item. In Skinweight, worn and consumable are set on each pack line, so you mark them again when you build the pack. Compare your totals with LighterPack once you have.
Can I get the list back out of Skinweight?
Yes. Export CSV in a LighterPack-compatible format, or share a PDF, HTML file, share card or Markdown table. These are files, not live links.
