Is there a houseplant care app with no account and no subscription?
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Yes. Several houseplant care apps need no account, and some have no subscription. Verdling is one option: no account, a free plan for up to 7 plants, and a one-time Pro purchase. It is not the only app like this. Use the checklist below to compare.
Five things to check
- Account: do you have to sign up before you add a plant?
- Where records live: on your device, or on the maker's servers?
- Plant limit: how many plants are free, and does the free plan expire?
- Pro model: a one-time purchase, a subscription, or both?
- Backup: can you get your records out as a file, and is that free?

- Plantkeep (iPhone and iPad) is free and says no account and no subscription, with full offline use.

- Leaflet (Android) says no account. It is free for up to five plants. Premium is a subscription or a one-time purchase.

- Planta is free to download. Its Premium is a subscription, and it uses Planta accounts.
How Verdling fits
Verdling is a houseplant care tracker: a Today list, an editable watering schedule for each plant, at most one reminder a day, a photo journal, propagation tracking, an illustrated reference of more than 400 plants, and a plant-sitter care sheet PDF.
- Account: none.
- Where records live: stored locally on your device.
- Plant limit: up to 7 plants free, with no trial and no expiry. Free also includes watering schedules and reminders, photos, propagation and the reference.
- Pro: a one-time purchase, US$9.99 in the US, with no subscription. Other countries pay local prices. Pro removes the plant limit and adds reminders for feeding, misting, repotting and your own tasks, side-by-side growth photos, the care sheet PDF, and the light meter after 3 free saved readings.
- Backup: free. Save a full backup with photos to a folder you choose, or to your own iCloud Drive on Apple devices. Export CSV or JSON any time. Backup is not sync.
Verdling is not a fit if you want plant identification from a photo, a plant community, or live sharing between family phones.
Care tracking works offline; store purchases and optional diagnostics use a network connection. Crash and performance diagnostics are on by default and can be turned off in Settings. Purchases belong to the store where you buy them.
Verdling is live on Google Play. iPhone and iPad are submitted and waiting for App Store review.
