Is there a net worth app that works on iPhone, Mac, and Windows with the same data?

Yes. Worthtally is the same app on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, the Mac App Store, Google Play for Android, and the Microsoft Store for Windows, and you carry your data between devices with your own backup file. There is no cloud sync of balances, on purpose: your figures never sit on a server.

Most net worth apps stop at one side of the fence. Worthy is iOS and Android only, with no desktop version. Desktop-only tools such as Quicken Classic and GnuCash do not run on a phone.

Keeping one set of numbers across devices, with or without an app

  1. Keep one file, not three. Whether it is a spreadsheet or an app backup, there is exactly one current copy.
  2. Put that file in a folder you already sync yourself: iCloud Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. You control the account, not the app maker.
  3. Edit on one device at a time. Make the change, save, then open it on the next device. Two devices editing at once is how numbers go missing.
  4. Do the monthly update on whichever device you have in hand, then let the folder carry it to the rest.
  5. Once a month, export a dated copy to a second place. A backup you have never restored is a guess, so try restoring it once.
  6. Before you commit to any app, check it can export a full backup and import it again on another platform. If it cannot, your data is stuck on that device.
